The experience of 130 years of LUKAS is reconciled in the development and production of colours for the professional artist.


Pigments and Lightfastness

In LUKAS Studio colours only, without exception brilliant, consistant pigments are used. Only very costly pigments are blended or substituted.Only the lightfastest pigments in their catagorie are chosen. Instead of very costly inorganic pigments, like cobalt pigments or real earth pigments from the Toscana, organic or (synthetic) inorganic pigments off best quality are used. Please also see our colourcard, where all used pigments and their lightfastnesses are listed, no pigment used got less than a lightfastness of 6-7 of the woolscale.


Binders

Binders are pure and bleached linseed oil or sunflower oil from the best available sources. The finest bleached bees wax gives the buttery and short consistency.


Pureness

LUKAS Studio colours are without any resins or other evaporating ingrediants. They can be painted directly from the tube. By addition of the mediums 1 - 6 the artist can choose individually the technical features according to his wishes.


Assortment

Available are 75 colours in the following tube sizes: 37ml, 54 shades in tube 350ml. 24 shades in tins 750ml and buckets 2,5l, 6l buckets on request.

Quality

Every charge of production is tested in the laboratory precisely to the standards, like tone, drying time, grain, consistency (viscosity) and density. Only the colours which are according to the high demands of LUKAS are reaching the artist.
